Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy. If you have not listed to or read The Hunger Games, you will probably be lost. As much of the character development is done in the first book. Bit of a warning though, if you listen to this book you will find yourself irresistibly drawn to the final book.
I started listening to this book immediately after finishing The Hunger Games because I could not wait to find out what happens next. Catching Fire starts off with little time passing after the first book and covers everything that has happened since and then the new adventure of Katniss Everdeen begins.
Catching Fire is a great title for this second volume as it delves into the state of the 12 districts and what the capitol thinks it must do to show its power over them. Without giving too much away there is a surprise second “games”. The love triangle between Katniss, Peta and Gale explored with no resolve. Much of the story is expected after reading The Hunger Games but Suzanne Collins weaves in some surprises and an ending that will leave your craving for more.
Narrator Review
All I have to say is thank goodness Carolyn McCormick was kept for the second book. I always hate it when narrators are switched up in the middle of a series.
